The contract has been awarded by the Hamilton City Council and WAM says it offers an exciting opportunity to develop a long-term partnership.
The company says it will work with the Council to satisfy the city's goals in the management of its waste and recycling services and minimising volumes to landfill.
Under the terms of the contract Waste Management will introduce a comprehensive residential kerbside collection service for recyclables and refuse.
It will also continue to manage the council refuse transfer station but will introduce a recycling service at the station.
The new contract begins in July next year.
