Ratcliffe to head separated Chorus

Mark Ratcliffe, the head of Telecom's network arm Chorus will be appointed chief executive of a stand alone Chorus provided shareholders approve plans to fully separate the unit from rest of the company, Telecom says.

Its aim is to have Chorus separated into a stand alone listed company by the end of 2011, in order for it to participate in the Government’s ultra-fast broadband (UFB) initiative.

Ratcliffe had worked for Telecom for more than 20 years, including nearly 12 on the company's executive team, Telecom said today.

He had previously been named as leading the transition of Chorus through to demerger, and was also Telecom’s executive lead for the UFB initiative.
