24th December 2021 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets closed higher on Thursday after a good result on durable goods and employment rate.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher +0.78%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.81% and 0.99%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.43%), the Dax 30 (+1.04%), CAC 40 (+0.77%) and the STOXX (+1.16%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices were barely changed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.83%), HSI (+0.40%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.57%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.50%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.692%. Oil was up to $76.81 per barrel, up 2.02%. The gold price was at US$1809.11 per ounce, up 0.30%.
