A person facing fraud related charges is seeking a stay of proceedings ahead of an eight week trial scheduled to start in September, the High Court in Wellington heard today.
Justice David Collins reserved his decision over a bid for the person to be granted a stay due to their medical condition. Failing a successful bid for a stay, the person is seeking an adjournment to the September start date to prepare for the case, defence counsel Helen Cull QC, said.
The Crown, represented by Dale LaHood, opposed the application.
The person is one of three people facing fraud charges, all of whom have name suppression.
