U.S. stock markets closed lower on Thursday as the Federal Reserve sped up the monetary policy tapering process.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed lower with -0.34%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 2.83% and 1.16%, respectively.
Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+1.25%), the Dax 30 (+1.03%), CAC 40 (+1.12%) and the STOXX (+1.01%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices were both up. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+2.13%), HSI (+0.23%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.75%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.42%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.621%. Oil was up to $74.65 per barrel, up 1.04%. The gold price was at US$1797.88 per ounce, up 1.04%.
