US markets closed higher on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve said it will raise interest by 25 basis points and laid out an aggressive plan to push borrowing costs higher as concerns about high inflation overtook other risks. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 1.87%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 2.11% and 2.83%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+1.62%), the Dax 30 (+3.76%), CAC 40 (+3.68%) and the STOXX (+4.05%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.64%), HSI (+9.08%) and the Shanghai Composite (+3.48%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 2.174%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.936%. Oil was down to $97.66 per barrel, down 2.25%. The gold price was at US$1927.61 per ounce, up 0.50%.
