Sky City broadens its name

The company has launched the new name at the same time as releasing its annual report to its 22,000 shareholders and capital noteholders.

MD, Evan Davies, says the new name recognises both the growth and diversity of Sky City and its positioning as an entertainment business.

"During the 2000/01 year Sky City assumed ownership of SkyCity Adelaide (formerly Adelaide Casino) in South Australia, opened Sky Alpine Queenstown Casino, began construction of the Riverside gaming and entertainment complex in Hamilton, purchased a majority shareholding in cinema entertainment company, Force Corporation, and invested in internet sports wagering company, Canbet Limited.

"Over the next two years Sky City will construct and open a purpose built five-level conference centre in Auckland, complete an expansion of the main gaming floor at Sky City Auckland, and open the Riverside complex."

Mr Davies says all the developments, together with Sky City Auckland's offerings of casinos, bars and restaurants, live entertainment, a hotel and the Sky Tower, demonstrate the diversity of Sky City's business.
