US markets fell on Friday as deteriorating consumer sentiment data and the Media East conflict soured investors on riskier bets and overshadowed upbeat quarterly earnings from some of the largest US banks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.12%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.50% and 1.23% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.59%), the Dax 30 (-1.55%), CAC 40 (-1.42%) and the STOXX (-1.48%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225 (-0.55%), HSI (-2.33%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.94%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.617%, while the 2 - year note was at 5.058%. Oil was down to $87.72 per barrel, up 0.03%. The gold price was at US$1945.90 per ounce, up 0.23%.
