US markets closed higher on Friday, marking the end of a tumultuous week as US Federal Reserve officials calmed investor fears over a potential liquidity crisis in the banking sector. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.41%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.56% and 0.31% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-1.26%), the Dax 30 (-1.66%), CAC 40 (-1.74%) and the STOXX (-1.82%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.13%), HSI (-0.67%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.64%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.372%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.767%. Oil was up to $69.20 per barrel, down 0.09%. The gold price was at US$1981.00 per ounce, down 0.14%.
