Hellaby Holdings, the diversified investment group, named former Frucor Beverages head Mark Cowsill as an independent director.
Cowsill, who spent almost two decades at Frucor between 1992 and 2011, will join the board effective immediately, Hellaby said in a statement.
He is also a director of Hubbard Foods and fishing company Sanford. Frucor is owned by Japan's Suntory.
Shares of Hellaby last traded at $3 and have gained 24 percent this year.
Last year Hellaby shareholders approved a resolution to lift the pool of directors' fees $100,000 to $475,000.
At the time chairman John Maasland said most of the increase would go towards paying another director who would help Hellaby grow into the Australian market.
