Here are the results for ShareChat's Best Broker Awards 2000. There are three categories, Best Internet Broker, Best Full Service Broker and Most Helpful Broker.

Best Internet Broker

Not surprisingly, Access Brokerage won the number one spot in this section (they have the largest Internet client base in New Zealand). Direct Broking was a close second with ASB Securities following up third. New entrants in the market NetBroker and Quicken scored lower, a reflection of their current smaller client base.

1st Place - Access Brokerage

"Sort out queries promptly & execute trades quickly."

"Simple, easy to follow site - appears to work like clockwork. And cheap! Only had one stuff-up - sale not shown till after market close. Although they admitted it had highlighted a potential problem in their system which Access said would be remedied immediately."

2nd Place - Direct Broking

3rd Place - ASB Securities

Best Full Service Broker

Ord Minnett and Craig & Co. tied for first equal in this section with the full-service division of ASB Securities following up in third place. Institutional brokers Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse First Boston and ABN Amro all scored lower, a reflection on their smaller individual investor client base.

Discount brokers Access and Direct once again scooped the top two spots for this category with ASB Securities coming in at third place. Craig & Co. and Forsyth Barr also scored well.
