Technology company Cadmus (NZSE: CTL) says it has agreed a deal worth almost $2 million to supply internet capable terminals to Bartercard.

The company says Bartercard has ordered 3,000 internet capable terminals for its New Zealand members with an initial rollout of 1,200 over the next six months.

Cadmus MD, Ian Bailey, says the company will supply integrated telephone/payment terminals called swipe phones. The swipe phones also include the ability to send personal messages and emails, display and print advertising messages and make account inquiries.

"This is a real business growth opportunity for Cadmus, and we have already applied for local and international patents on our technology.

"Bartercard NZ is anticipating significant interest in the project from the company's 45 offices and affiliates around the world."

Mr Bailey says the advanced technology provides a springboard for the development and implementation of a wide range of new internet based products and services.

"We have also developed and operate the backroom host systems to enable these services to be offered.

"It's exciting technology and we believe the Cadmus solution opens up major opportunities, both locally and internationally in the development, design, and implementation of end to end solutions to meet customers' data processing needs."

Cadmus recently bought a 4.55% shareholding in Sydney-based knowledge and information management specialist Insight Technologies.
