The software firm has signed an agreement with Dunedin based 3DTooth Limited to buy the rights to its 3D animated patient education.
SOE chief, Paul Weatherly, says 3DTooth's patient education material is very complementary to the company's own products.
"We are planning to distribute the education material with our software, and create a tightly integrated solution that is superior to current offerings internationally. Additional revenue is expected from sales to existing and future customers.
"The quality of the animation created by 3DTooth is awesome, and we see this as the start of a long term relationship with 3DTooth to enhance both patient education tools, and the 3D models and animation in our core products.
Mr Weatherley says 3DTooth has worked closely with the Dental School at Otago University and the resulting models used in the animation are extremely accurate and realistic.
