ANZ National Bank boss steps down to undergo cancer treatment

The ANZ National Bank chief executive Jenny Fagg is to step down immediately from the role to undergo cancer treatment. 

The bank’s current deputy chief executive, Steven Fyfe, will step up to lead operations in New Zealand effective from Thursday.

In announcing Fagg’s leave of absence, ANZ National chairman Dryden Spring said she had done “an extraordinary job as chief executive over the past two years.”

“The decision to step down has been a difficult one, however, her recovery and her family are her priorities, and ours.”She will undergo initial treatment in New Zealand and then Australia.
