Monteith's wins brewing 'Oscar'

The brewer's Celtic Red beer won a gold medal in its class for or cans or bottles of ale with alcohol by volume between 2.4% and 4.3%. The overall winner in the class was an Alaskan brewed ale called Alaskan ESB.

Monteith's Brewing Company brewer, Malcolm Stratton, says he is absolutely thrilled with the win for the Irish-style red beer.

"The gold medal is recognition by fellow professional brewers that Monteith's is continuing to make some of the world's best beer and that Celtic is an outstanding commercial example of its style."

DB says the Brewing Industry International Awards are recognised as the most prestigious in the world and are dubbed the 'Oscars of the Brewing Industry'. The competition is judged entirely by practicing professional brewers from around the world, who assess the beers solely on the commercial-worth of their quality.

Monteith's says its Celtic Red brew has a burnt-red colour and is characterised by a dry roasted malt flavour.
