[sharechat] Trend Indicators and Oscillators
Phaedrus,
Despite re-reading a number of books and all the posts you have made to
Sharechat over the last 3+ years I still don't fully understand how to
effectively combine trendlines and oscillators.
I note that in this post:
http://www.sharechat.co.nz/archives/2002/06/msg00078.shtml
you comment that that:
"RSI and Stochastic are both momentum oscillators, and as such are best
suited to stocks that are in a trading range. As you rightly observed, FUN
is now in an uptrend. Trending stocks are monitored by trend indicators."
but in this post:
http://www.sharetrader.co.nz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19267&whichpage=4
you highlight the merits of using oscillators for a stock in an uptrend.
You also have posted many charts that show the benefits of using an
oscillator to confirm an entry point when a stock has broken through a
downtrend line but is still trending down.
These comments can be partially reconciled on the basis of not selling a
stock in a confirmed uptrend based on an oscillator sell signal but I would
really appreciate your feedback.
Thanks
T100.
