Obviously you are as knowledgeable in the science of statistics as you are
in the effects of gambling on society.
99.9% don't have a problem! Hogwash here in Cairns 10% of the population
have a mild problem with gambling and 4% have a Major problem with gambling.
Your argument about cars etc is groundless, unscientific and
ridiculious. I have just taught my son to drive a car responsibly, Should I
now teach him to " Flutter " a pokie equally so?

We were being killed by runaway horses, carts, falling out of trees attacked
by wild animals, dying of common dieases long before the Automobile. The
form of gambling then was which fly ran up the teepee faster,

Here in Cairns we have every pud, every night club, every sports club full
of pokies that equates to about 30 outlets. The average outlet makes $10,000
per day that is by my maths $300,000 PER DAY lost from a community of
150,000 locals and about 70,000 transients. We also have a major Casino
that made over 10,million dollars last financial year.Add that to the 109
Million lost in the various outlets here in Cairns and we have 119 Million
dollars that equates by my percentages to about 26,000 people losing 119
Million.
So obviously my figures are wrong because we have knowledge of only the tip
of the iceberg BUT your 99.9% means that .1% or 200 people lost 119 Million
dollars. So for a population of the said mentioned to lose 119 Million in 12
Months means that Gambling is a FAR greater problem than our known 14%. What
sort of intelligent society allows $300,000 per day to be taken from hard
working citizens

WHAT in the hell has a knife, Gun etc got to do with gambling. I am a Chef
by trade and I have taught hundreds of apprentices how to use a knife
correctly a few have hurt themselves but ( here we go again ) 99.9% do not.
Now should I by your logic teach them how to Gamble responsibly? Show them
the wonders of a Pokie machine? Hogwash!

As a boy I was taught how to use a gun responsibly and have had to on
several occasions during our revolution to use that knowledge> As ugly as it
was that knowledge saved my life and the life of others. How will the
knowledge of using a pokie ever equate to positive, useful energy.

Yes you are right alcohol is a far more serious problem, I personally would
have no problem with prohibition, but society here in the Western world has
an intrenched alcohol culture. Take it away and you would drive it
underground.
However drive gambling underground and society would lose far less.

Sorry Karyn there is no argument you the majority have already won it is the
poor loser on the pokies losing 119Million that has lost. As the French say
Bon Chance! with your thoughts Karyn and may your God bless you
