Hi Allan, > > To all the GOLD Guru's who contribute to this channel a hearty > congratulations on gold's smashing the $400/oz. level. Currently > $403.40 12:55 pm, New York time. > At the start of the year gold was around $US278. So it has risen 45% in USD terms. And in the same time period the $NZ has risen from US50c to US64c, a rise of 28%. In NZD terms an investor holding gold would have gained 13%. Yet the NZX accumulation index has gained some 20% during the year. So sorry Allan and the gold gurus. All you have done is underperform the NZX index. Not a performance to crow about. It is yet more evidence that gold as a metal, for the average New Zealander, is a below average 'investment'. Even that is being charitable as gold metal has no income stream attached to it, which in my view makes it pure speculation- not an investment at all.
