Interesting post. I find it difficult to believe that man can selectively log a forest and do a better job than nature - I think that's what the Timberlands people used to try and tell us. Recently his name appeared in this interesting article relating to other species suitable for timber in NZ. http://www.conifers.co.nz/Additional_info/Forestry%20&%20Nut%20Trees.htm with reference to selective logging may I give my 1 cents worth . Having spent some time in Sarawak (Borneo) I suppose the shock of seeing such vast forests totally decimated ,and the troubles the government is now having trying to police the new selective logging practices has made me somewhat negative towards any Native Forest logging.
