[sharechat] WHS
i realise it would be highly speculative to say whs will go to $4 on tuesday
however, what leads me to my opinion is to ask why Muir did leave. No
specific details have been given as to why he left however im picking that
he may have wished to take a whole different approach to the Australian
investment. I think he may have wished to reduce investment in australia
(similar to what Telecom have done with AAPT) and focus more on expanding
the whs here at home. I think they will still struggle with Australia and
until then the shareprice will be volatile. Why will they struggle with
Australia? Trouble with product lines and much stiffer competition. The
shareprice will only find strength when the market have more faith in the
operations within Austrailia. And when they do have faith and results are
more promising, the shareprice could be as high as $10 easy. All you have to
do is look at Telecom and what happened when they entered into australia
through AAPT. When telecom took full control of AAPT in 2000, the shareprice
was as high as $8. Once telecom and the market realised that AAPT wouldnt
perform as well as anticipated the share price fell to about $4 at its
lowest point. Its not until now that telecom have realised that AAPT (in the
short term anyway) wont perform to anything outstanding and have taken a
more backseat to the investment. However, after their last results, telecom
have shown that they are more comfortable with the australian investments
and are focused on maintaining their NZ operations. The timeline of Telecom
over the past few years is a great indicator of how the whs may perform over
the next couple of years.
Let me know your views.
