[sharechat] SG2003 (Apr): 1/ Nigelb 2/ Forsyth Barr
Full results have been posted on the competitions notice board, and it
is our own Nigelb that is holding the brokers at bay.
It is interesting to observe that Nigel's five picks: Contact Energy,
Dorchester Pacific, Guinness Peat Group, Independent News, and Sky
Television are completely different to the picks of the second overall
competitor, brokers Forsyth Barr. Forbar selected Auckland
International Airport, Fletcher Building, Fisher and Paykel Appliances,
Hellabys and Waste Management.
Nigel has been helped in the last month by INL agreeing to sell all of
its newspaper assets, the net result being a near 30% increase in the
INL share price since the start of the competition. However, this is far
from a lucky pick skewing the result as Nigel is also the only
competitor where all five of his shares picks are in positive territory.
The best performing individual shares since the end of January (out of
the total basket that our competitors have selected) are:
1/ INL +29.6%,
2/ Waste Management +14.7%,
3/ WestpacTrust +13.8%,
4/ Software of Excellence +12%,
5/ Hellaby +11.3%,
6/ Mainfreight +11.2%,
7/ Richmond +10.2%,
8/ GPG +9.8%,
9/ Vertex +9.4%,
10/Turners Auctions +8.6%
