Re: Re: [sharechat] WHS Mystery Solved /SNOOPY
Dear Snoopy,
Somehow, I did not receive you're original question and had it answered by Pat
Fields. Yes, COSTCO is a US listed corp. What I was trying to get across was
the history of the company, with which I am intimately familiar with. I do not
have the numbers at hand, but I am familiar with someone who made something
like US $80,000,000 from investing with the original PRICE CO. shares. We were
on the same political battle group in the late 60s and early 70s. When he
passed away, the SD world was shocked at the money he left to charity -- mostly
from the capital gains of PRICE CO. shares. This was the typical Xerox, IBM,
HP type of story. SNOOPY, if I had invested in the original PRICE CO. shares
and held them to date I would be sending this through a laptop from Tahiti, The
Swiss Alps or perhaps from Queenstown NZ. Sometime, when I get to
Christchurch, I'll drop in on you and we'll talk about Sol Price and what he
has done for the benefit of mankind. Usually I have nothing good to say about
attorney's and I know many of them, but while I don't agree with Sol Price
about everything, he is one of my hero's, because he has, while making his
millions, elevated the standard of living of "the little guy". Sorry I didn't
get your original post for some reason, but this is my answer.
If it would be of some advantage to you or the other members of SHARECHAT, I
could quote some of COSTO'S prices vis a vie "normal prices" that you would pay
in one of our supermarkets.

Is COSTCO a listed company in the US Allan?
SNOOPY
Yes, it's listed in the NASDAQ (since early 80s) - ticker "COST". Up until
1995, they traded sideways but between 1995-2000, they were a tenbagger.
Since then they've held much better than the rest of NASDAQ but not
particularly going anywhere, pricewise.
