The Tararua windfarm near Palmerston North has 48 turbines producing approx 32 megawatts. Plans to add another hundred or so are shelved until the economics alter. the main stumbling block appears to be the predicted cost of resource consents and the appeals through various courts.

With the expected increase of gas and consequently electricity prices we can expect some action soon.
