I guess there is some element of truth in what you say, but to my mind the
"distance" a stocks price varies from its trendline is more a measure of its
volatility than anything else. A very volatile stock would have large secondary
swings away from, then back to, the trendline. A less volatile stock would not
swing as wildly, and would, overall, stay nearer the trendline. This does not
necessarily mean that one trend is stronger than the other, though many people
do equate higher volatility with higher risk.
