[sharechat] Trend Lines

Hi, it's me again, questions, questions. Looking at trendlines it 
seems to me that they tell a little more than what is apparent at 
first glance.
At times the price line expands and contracts from the trendline. 
Would I be correct in my assumption that this denotes strength or 
weakness. I nearly used the word "momentum", which applies 
going up or down.
A silly question in some ways, but confirmation or otherwise clears 
the mind.
