Amazing stuff, many thanks phaedrus.
It does seem that the nz index is less tied to the dow than the all ords 
and the footsie.  if i were a mathematician, i'd contribute a variance 
analysis (would chi squared fill the bill?), but i'm not, so i cant.

interesting observation about the wri high-yield relationship, snoopy. 
 although fbu is not particularly high-yield, rough eye-balling shows an 
even more marked resistance (and divergence from) to the dow trend.
