In the National Business Review summary posted on this site several of the
magazines correspondents fret about the prospect of PPCS members loosing $69
million if ordered to forfeit their shares in Richmond.
The question before the court is. Did PPCS enter into an agreement with
other parties to hold shares in Richmond on their behalf, to circumvent
restrictions placed on PPCS? If the court finds the case proven, one of the
remedies available is for the shares in question be forfeit without
compensation.
I suggest that the magazines correspondents should adopt the same sang-froid
attitude as is likely to be displayed by PPCS management.
They work for a farmer owned co-operative. Managers of farmer owned
co-operatives have never been accountable to members. I predict that this
will not change even, in the face of the current provocation.
