Hi qwerty, > > >I'm just beginning to start investing in stocks and shares in New >Zealand and was just wondering if any of you had any advice on what >I should look for in a full service stockbroker. > You might want to go to the sharechaht website and have a look at the 'education' section. In particular the Sharemarket FAQ, by Sarah Corkill, but there is lots of other good educational material there too. There is only one point of caution to add. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who is truly 'independent' in the finance industry in New Zealand. In other words any broker will have an agenda to satisfy their best clients. And those people aren't you or I- they are the corporates! Go to the main sharechat page again and click on the 'Education' heading, which will give you the option to select the 'Learning to Invest' series of postings. Have a look at "the Broker/Adviser" section, as it explains why not all broker advice can be taken at face value.
