Frucor has been a hot topic on this forum for a
good long time. I have not been tempted to take part, but have been astonished
by the passions that the stock appears to bring out.
From where I stand - outside looking in - it
appears to be no more than one other commodity - perfectly capable of being
copied by any drinks manufacturer that wishes a place in the
market.
What it appears to have been lacking, however, is
market penetration - shelf facings in the Supermarkets and convenience stores -
the sort of market dominance tha "Coca Cola" takes for granted - having bought
and paid for the privilege.
It seems to me that the French Company may be able
to bring some of that expertise and muscle to bear on what is probably quite an
adequate product - but of course, they will be aware of the strengths that they
can bring to the whole scenario - so why pay over the odds ?
Just a pity that they appear to require total
control - if they could bring their strengths to the product, and permit some
local investors to stay on for the ride - that could be a win/win situation
?
Seasons greetings to all
