I revisited that comment by the PM.
Perhaps what she could have said (and perhaps meant
to say) was that AirNZ would survive and be trading OK for the travelling
public's confidence, "IN SOME FORM" and of couse not necessarily under the
mantle of the present inept major shareholders. The present shareholders are
totally dispensable and they are not the people of New Zealand and the
travelling public. The Government has absolutely no obligations to the
shareholders who allowed their board to get them where they are
today.
IMHO the present executive is probably adequate but
they could not achieve anything with that massive weight on their
shoulders.
