RE: [sharechat] Opportunities.

Hi Phaedrus
I'd have to describe myself as a fundamentalist but I follow all your posts
with interest and you never disappoint with your observations.

I especially like this comment of yours.
"I select stocks to trade using fundamentals, but use Technical analysis
solely and exclusively to trade them."

Could I put what you are saying here another way:
You select stocks that are fundamentally strong [this considers such aspects
as earnings, earnings trends, financial structure and relationships,
quality of management, state of "the market" for the product or service
produced, etc] but use technical analysis to help you time your market
entries and exits.

If this indeed is what you are saying then I guess I use some very basic,
unsophisticated technical analysis myself.
Perhaps I should hone these technical skills a little more. I often identify
good companies but also often mistime my forays into and out of the market.

Cheers,
John

From "Barry & Kim Vanderhaven" :-
<<<< I have noted your watch list - any consideration given
to THL? >>>>
THL is too lightly traded for my tastes. The total daily
turnover is often less than $100,000.
<<<<.... acknowledging that its recent downward movement has
been attributed to specific events? >>>>
A downtrend is a downtrend. There is no need to attempt to
explain it - it exists, that is enough. It is always possible to attribute
any trend to something - rightly or wrongly.
<<<< Is it fair that fundamentals such as these negate
technical analyses? >>>>
Fundamentals do not negate technical analysis. How could
they? Fundamental analysis identifies stocks that ought to rise (or fall).
Technical analysis identifies stocks that are rising (or falling). No
conflict there. I select stocks to trade using fundamentals, but use
Technical analysis solely and exclusively to trade them. Incidentally, no
one ever said trading had to be fair!
