So, as per Xtra's e-mail today, their solution to speed up the quality of the night time service is :

 

        1.  Increase the basic monthly charge from $24.95 to $27.95 ( that is a 12  (I.E. TWELVE) percent increase.

 

        BUT.........................

 

         2. If you don't think you want to log on (=pay this extortionate rate) between 5PM and 11PM you can have the new DAYTIME PACK  at the BARGAIN rate of $19.95. . But if you DO  take this plan ,  and you DO just happen to log on  between 5 and 11pm, YOU WILL BE CHARGED  $2.50 PER HOUR!!!!.

 

 

So there's the choice :- cough up 12% extra on top of current rate ,  OR $2.50/hour on top of $19.95, and/or hope that enough people are scared off from the 5PM to 11PM slot that the service  improves beyond the  status quo (= hopeless).

 

Guess it is time to look for a new provider .............
