Snoopy would Singapore airlines have had the same restrictions I would like to see the Australians terms for the Singapore deal were they the same.I believe they got clearance before Air NZ vetoed & ansett workers screamed that there jobs would be taken by more cost efficient Kiwis. also I have reason to believe that the various governments in Australia get up to 8% of all Ansett wages paid in payroll taxes. Vigin Blue has payroll taxes either highly reduced or nil. I am relying on my memory to the extent of the consesions to Virgin Blue to set up in Queensland. Same consescion would have made Ansett highly profitable in my opinion. Does anyone know what incentives were given to Quantas to stop it setting up its new engineering base in NZ. Talk about government Favouritism. May be should retaliate in kind scrap CER and put at least a 10% surcharge on all australian products. >From: "tennyson@caverock.net.nz" <tennyson@caverock.net.nz> >Reply-To: sharechat@sharechat.co.nz >To: sharechat@sharechat.co.nz >Subject: Re: Re: [sharechat] halfwit air >Date: Fri, 14 Sep 2001 23:42:06 +0000 > >Hi Phil, > > > > > Gary may be referring to > > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/news/nbr/article.php/a83ab6f7 > > which makes mention of this. > > > > > >"No significant reduction in the workforce;" > >"No significant reduction in the regional network, and no loss of >regional destinations;" > >"Ansett retaining substantial Australian headquarters and operational >centres" > >Hmmm, that is quite a restrictive list.
