Since many pundits are playing the blame game over the Air N Z Ansett debacle
I want to  chip in as well.

Remember the Aussie Kiwi open skies agreement. How Air N Z was going to take advantage of it by setting up a hub in Brisbane. The hub was to converge flights from
N Z and allow passengers to change planes for points North, and pick up Aussie Passengers as well.

Remember how all this came to an end with a fax purporting to be from the Aussie Minister of  Transport arrived in then Minister of Transport Maurice Williamsons office canceling the deal. An underarm incident which ultimately backfired as Air N Z was forced to buy Ansett to play in the Aussie market with the present consequences.

While this underarm incident is only one factor in the present debacle it will be useful to remember, if Aussie politicians take a holier than thou attitude, and start blaming the Kiwis.

Meanwhile the lesson for politicians on both sides of the ditch is DO NOT MEDDLE WITH AIRLINES YOU ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE.
