Hi John, "3 for 1" is slang for a share consolidation (for every three shares you own you receive one share after the consolidation). "1 for 3" is slang for a share split (for every one share you own, you receive three shares after the split). I think i_claudius may have made a typo and meant 1 for 3. Great comments all round on SKC. I'd have to agree with Snoopy too - SKC is definitely one of NZ's best (if not the best) listed companies. Best Regards Ben Dutton (Disc. do not hold SKC). ----- Original Message ----- From: "John H T Wilkinson" <jhtw@clear.net.nz> To: <sharechat@sharechat.co.nz> Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2001 10:50 PM Subject: Re: [sharechat] SKC- Another good result! > i_claudius wrote: 3 for 1 > > John wrote: 1 for 3 > > My maths tells me: > > 3 for 1 = (3 + 1)/1 = 4 times as many! > > 1 for 3 = (1 + 3)/3 = 1.33 times as many! > > when compared with the number pre issue. > > How say you guys? > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Chris Castle" <c.castle@paradise.net.nz> > To: <sharechat@sharechat.co.nz> > Sent: Wednesday, 22 August 2001 12:15 a.m. > Subject: Re: [sharechat] SKC- Another good result! > > > > Three times as many shares on issue and a lower price - both factors > assist > > liquidity > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "John & Robyn Armstrong" <jofra@es.co.nz> > > To: <sharechat@sharechat.co.nz> > > Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2001 9:16 PM > > Subject: Re: [sharechat] SKC- Another good result! > > > > > > > > > > How would a 1 for 3 share split improve liquidity? > > > > > > John > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > > From: i_claudius <i_claudius@xtra.co.nz> > > > To: <sharechat@sharechat.co.nz> > > > Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2001 5:57 PM > > > Subject: Re: [sharechat] SKC- Another good result! > > > > > > > > > snip > > > > > > > The other coldspot for me was no mention of the rumoured 3 for 1 share > > > > split.I think SKC would benefit hugely from the increased liquidity. > > > > > > snip > > > > > > > > > > > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > -- > > > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market > > investors > > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > -- > > > To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at > > > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/forum.shtml. > > > > > > > > > > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > -- > > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market > investors > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > -- > > To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at > > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/forum.shtml. > > > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market investors > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- > To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at > http://www.sharechat.co.nz/forum.shtml. > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ New Zealand's home for market investors ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To remove yourself from this list, please use the form at http://www.sharechat.co.nz/forum.shtml.
