You're just old fashioned Nick, it used to be that way less than 100 years
ago, probably the reason for the at times fast growth rates in earlier
days.
I don't really see how Cullen can get away without reducing company tax
to at least the now lower Australian level. He/Helen Clark were muttering
that other Australian impositions made up the difference but what exactly
were they referring to and do they?
It will be interesting to see how well the US economy responds to Bush's
tax cuts although I think there are delays in phasing them in.
Its an interesting argument that socialist governments always think they
know better than the market, can pick winners, and are able to spend your
money better than you can.
On the other hand with lower taxes or transferable vouchers for education,
health etc then their might be some more efficiency and better service in
these areas plus more incentive to work, save and invest.
