Good words Peter - for a long time now I've considered good management to be 
the magic ingredient. Retail business has been very tough in NZ for years now, 
but against a background of the many who have found the going hard, the 
exceptions like The Warehouse and Michael Hill have stood out.

Bill Gates added another thought to your list when he said that if you had a 
very successful business, other people wanted to come and work for you. The 
brightest people wanted to work alongside other bright people.
