QBE - an interesting selection Gerry.
I don't have much of a feel for Australian insurance
companies so 'visualising' what might happen on the QBE chart has it
hazards.
Pretty impressive growth in OZ insurance stocks last
year has helped QBE.
QBE had trouble breaking through the 720 barrier
several times through 1997 and early 2000. However once it did June 2000 it has
taken off. Over the past 2-3 weeks has tried to break through the 1000 mark but
has not managed to. Maybe this week? If it does then there is still a bit of
life left in QBE and 1150-1200 mid year is not out of the question.
Why a bit of life left in it. See if you can get a chart comparing QBE and
the Insurance Companies Index on the ASX. QBE has until more recent times
underperformed this index. However when it broke out as mentioned above it has
started to outperform the index. The index appears to have a bit of upside
still. QBE as one of the better performers will benefit - quick read of a few
reports shows they are performing well and have good future prospects.
Bit of seat of the pants stuff but QBE still looks promising.
