Hi Te Ranginui
Two new issues were announced last week:
1) Finzsoft
2) Software of Excellence (SoE)
After looking at both companies I have opted for SoE
because they are much more export-focussed and have a more dominant position in
the market, both NZ and UK.
If you can get your hands on SoE I would say go for it,
otherwise Finzsoft is still an option I guess.
At the time of Compass Communications float I didn't
want to be a wet blanket, so I didn't make any comment. But I was a
customer of theirs for 6 months and I was not impressed with this company.
They made a lot of promises they didn't deliver on, and the quality of some of
their phone circuits to Asia was hopeless. Faxes that were no problem to
send via Clear or NewCall were taking 3 times longer to send via Compass, that
is if they got through at all. Circuits were frequently overloaded.
And the quality of Compass Net was very poor too. Low bandwidth and a lot
of packet loss. I4FREE leaves Compass Net for dead and it don't cost
nothin!
You can see by CCG's share price what the market
thinks. I don't see any point in putting money into small boutique Telco
stocks at present. I have way too many NewCall and it doesn't look
pretty...
However it is good to have some exposure to the larger
players in the Telco sector as a whole so I have TEL because they a now a
good yield again, and eventually the price will recover. TLS is also a
good bet I feel, but don't expect too much in the short term.
There's some feedback for you mate.
Cheers
Grant
