[sharechat] should there be this FEG angst....
Ok, as a Buffetologist I'm a detached observer (oil,
after all, is a commodity which is therefore verboten)
>From all accounts Pohokura is getting much bigger
all the time and presumably Capstone will recover
even faster than the NASDAQ will one day.
Shell is not stupid, well they didn't use to be, they
used to do their homework quite well. Hence (a)
the apparently generous bid was pitched to be well
below the value of net assets but high enuff for the
uninformed general investor to go oooh, aaah.
(b) they did some options including what do we do
if the Commerce Commission says (1) or (2) or (3)....
Any other predators will be reassured that someone
like Shell which knows NZ oil industry extremely well
put in that sort of bid and will be now considering tossing
their hat in the ring with an easy ride thru the Commerce
Commission.
Incidentally RIL, I'm pleased to see the NZ dollar has gone
yet lower...Yay! we'll compete our way out with an export led
boom yet.
Should be a fascinating day today, I've taken a day's leave
to watch the Friday 13 action. Don't spose Telecom will
meet my $3.60 target today that I gave earlier as necessary
to become an income stock again, in one hit, but it should
make progress...
The Buffet stocks should roll pretty well with the punch today -
which is another Buffet virtue of course...
cheers,
Hugh
