Hi Cullen:
I'm concerned reading your post that the recent discussion re
Buffett, especially the math content, may have frightened a few people off. But
asking for non Buffett investment advise is like asking for advise on climbing
mountains but leave Sir Ed out of it.
Buffett's philosophies really are so basic and fundamental.
I've mentioned this link before but a great summary of this style of investing
can be found on www.focusinvesting.com or have a good
look through www.fool.com especially http://www.fool.com/school/13steps/13steps.htm?ref=STH13st
and http://www.fool.com/School/HowtoValueStocks.htm
There is plenty of info out there about trading/technical methods as well though
I can't help you with those.
Most important is to develop a philosophy based on what your
own personality can handle. I suggest that there is a vast difference in
personalities between Soros and Buffett followers.
Best of luck
