Deep Video Imaging wins 'Oscar of Invention'

Kiwi 3D display technology wins US research and development award

AUCKLAND, 14 September 2000 - Hamilton-based company Deep Video Imaging
(DVI) has won a prestigious international research and development (R&D100)
award for its revolutionary 3D liquid crystal display (LCD) screens.

Coined 'The Oscars of Invention' by the Chicago Tribune, R&D 100 awards are
issued to the 100 most technologically significant new products of the year,
by the United States (USA) 'R&D Magazine'.

"This is a huge accomplishment for DVI as we are only the second New Zealand
company to have the honour of receiving an R&D 100 award," said DVI
Co-inventor and General Manager, Gabriel Engel.

"DVI was competing against many of the world's most respected companies,
research organizations and universities, including NASA's Jet Propulsion
Laboratory, IBM Corporation, Nortel Networks, Toyota Motor Corporation, the
US Army Research Laboratory, and Boston University," Mr Engel said.

Utilising multiple layers of LCD screens, DVI removes the constraints of
two-dimensional flat-screen technology, providing visual depth and producing
next generation multi-media with superior 3D graphics.

"DVI joins a distinguished line of past R&D 100 winners, dating back to
1963, including the automated teller machine, the halogen lamp, the fax
machine, the touch-sensitive screen, the digital wristwatch, and antilock
brakes - all of which have changed the way we live," said Mr Engel.

The high-tech kiwi innovator is majority-owned by NZSE listed venture
capital firm IT Capital and Tindall Family Holdings Ltd (TFHL), a private
investment company owned by Stephen Tindall.

"IT Capital is delighted with the international recognition DVI has
achieved, and believe it reinforces the enormous potential of its unique
technology in global LCD screen markets," said IT Capital Managing Director,
Keith Phillips.

Mr Engel and US-based Trade NZ Commissioner Brent Ogilvie, will attend an
exclusive R&D 100 awards banquet at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry
later this month.

Deep Video Imaging (DVI) Background:

DVI technology utilises multiple layers of LCD screen to offer true depth of
field viewing and enhanced three-dimensional graphics.

Overcoming the constraints of two-dimensional flat screen technology, such
as the need for specialised eyewear, DVI meets the requirements of computer
screen manufacturers, kiosk suppliers and games companies.

DVI has initiated a program focused on developing computer monitor solutions
for the high growth interactive kiosk market.

DVI holds all rights to all intellectual property associated with the
technology in respect of which worldwide patents are pending.

IT Capital provides both early stage funding and management expertise that
are not readily available in local markets.

Applying a portfolio approach, the company allows investors to diversify
risk and participate in e-commerce opportunities, thereby giving public
market investors access to successful businesses at private market prices.
IT Capital's international network of venture partners and technology
