You've missed the point, Richard.  You don't lose *anything* if send in 
both html and plain text.  Those who have HTML support see HTML.  Those who 
don't don't.  Why shouldn't you?  Are you trying to say that there's 
nothing worthwhile in your posts other than the formatting?  You might be 
right...

No it's not, it's email.  'The internet' and 'the WWW' are not the same thing.
