[sharechat] Indexed funds

There appear to be a dozen or so Indexed funds listed on the NZSE. Would 
theses be considered safer than any single other share as they have an 
underlieing spread of shares usually across multiple markets ? I'm looking 
at the moment for shares with a relatively low risk.
