Was interested to note this comment in the FRU announcement today: "At the closing share price of $2.40 on 22 August 2000 the company has a market cap of $300 m which would rank it around number 34 if it were in the NZSE 40." How does a company come to be included in the index? I had assumed it was by market capitalisation, but over what period must that level be maintained before a new up-and-comer is admitted at the expense of a company already in the SE40? The last change I heard about was when ADV became a part of it as a result of colonial moving out for merger reasons. Now I'm assuming ADV are still no.40 given their price decline since being included? Presumablty this would put downward pressure on the ADV price?
