Your charting package sounds interesting if the total price was $195 ? Do
they have a web site ?

I think your experience with your share-holding would be not uncommon in
the current economic climate.
The important thing is to keep tabs on what is happening.  I made
the mistake in years gone by of not keeping up with the play and as a
result ended up with some dead ducks  e.g. BRY which I had always
regarded as a good foundation share.  When it started to dive it
went down quickly and I wasn't watching the market closely enough. 
Nowadays there is so much information available via the 'net that it is
much easier to follow what is happening.
