EPH announcement to the NZSE:

EPH
12/07/2000
MSP

REL: 0901 HRS E-Phone Limited

MSP: EPH: RESPONSE TO MSP SHARE PRICE ENQUIRY

In response to a share price enquiry from the NZSE Market surveillance Panel
regarding an 8cps price increase and high levels of trading volume, E-Phone
have responded with the following:
The company knows of no reason for the increase and advises that there has
been no statement made by any director to any person which ought to have been
made public nor is there any transaction concluded that would in the opinion
of the company result in the increase in the price of the company's shares.
The company is however proceeding with its national advertising and marketing
program and conducting negotiations with other corporations in the ordinary
course of its business. Whilst the outcome of these negotiations may result
in a positive perception by investors of the Company this is a matter for the
market to make its own judgement. The Company is in the process of concluding
a commercial arrangement, which prior to any public statement requires the
consent of the other participants. It is anticipated that an announcement in
relation to this arrangement will be made to the public jointly within the
next few days.
END.
