Hi Brian
I agree. Many people see the amazing returns from Nasdaq stocks in the
18 months ending March and think it's the norm and in Aus/NZ also.
Plenty of people had 40%+ returns during 1999, so what. It's doing it in
times like now that counts. And not from 1 lucky trade, but consistant
trading week in week out, thats the bread and butter for the trader,
skimming 5% here, 10% there, keeping losses tight  etc.  If you fluke a
double or better now and again, it's icing. (thinking of ASX:ETR
March/April 1999 brings a stupid grin to my face).

Can't be many more difficult, stressful, ways to try and make a living.
