Dividend stripping can work quite well when there isn't a bear market and/or 
the share represents very good value regardless of the dividend.

The only time I have tried this was at the beginning of the year when BRY 
announced a 3c dividend. I bought at 36c (I think from memory), collected 
the 3c divendend and sold at 36c 1 or 2 weeks later.
