: FOR: FORCE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE OUT
PERFORMS
Force Corporation is delighted with the performance of its
award winning
Entertainment Centre, which has attracted well over 1m
visitors to its
cinemas, including Imax, since it opened in August 1999,
Force joint-MD Derek
Presland said today. He said the troubles facing
Imax's overseas parent,
Cinema Plus, were certainly not echoed in the
performance of the Auckland
venue, which, with the rest of the centre, has
traded very well since opening
in July 1999. "We're looking forward
to a bumper winter, with an
unprecedented number of major movie titles
lined up over the next 3 months",
he said. He said 1,111,090 people
had bought tickets to the movies during
the 10 month period, making it
already NZ's most successful cinema complex
_by a long way'. Contrary
to media reports, Force Corporation was
confidently looking forward to a
productive future, including the opening
within 12 months of the new West
City cinema complex in association with
shopping mall giant,
Westfield. Other tenants int he Centre echoed Mr
Presland's
optimism. Village Force Cinemas' CEO, Joe Moodabe, said far
from
flattening outover the past year, cinema box office throughout the
country
had risen, despite the severe dent in business during the America's
Cup.
